This is part of an assignment in my Introduction to Sequential Art class. We had to write and draw a children's book, then illustrate it in ink and watercolor. I chose to use my beloved, deceased beagle Buddy, as well as my wife's loyal Bassett hound Beauregard (he was 19 when he died!) as the heroes, and to dedicate it to them.
I had originally planned the ending to be a happy shared dream of Buddy and Beauregard, but my instructor suggested this ending instead. It's still a happy ending, and I think it's actually stronger.
Thanks for the fav's Chris...Looking at your work is impressive. You are the real artist..Nice.Sorry for Buddy and Beau. I know th feeling all to well.
Love the characters and the inspiration behind them. The entire story is fantastic and I like this ending, as "dream" stuff seems a bit too obvious/easy. This also opens it up to the chance the heroes have a return mission/sequel? But wonderful layouts, compoistions, points of view, and tight dialogue/narrative. The coloring was very nice too and worked well with your usually strong/heavy black/white ink work. The whole story just had a great feel to it and a very good vibe. So much fun and a pleasure to read and view. Kudos to you on such a wonderful successful piece!!
Thanks, man! I initially wanted to leave it open as to whether or not it was a dream, but yeah, I like this more definitive ending better. Glad you liked it; I loved working on it, especially as a tribute to some beloved pals.
